Dear all Palm Beach County Golf Association Members:
I write you as the newly nominated Chairman of the Palm Beach County Golf Association and hope this finds you well. I am honored to follow a long legacy of influential leaders of one of the most prestigious and competitive amateur golf associations in the entire country. I first would like to thank all of our sponsors for the 2017 season many of which have supported our organization since its inception in 1976. Without the support of these individuals and business including, but not limited to, The Palm Beach Kennel Club, Arrigo Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep & RAM, Tire Kingdom, Allianz Financial Services, Abacoa Golf Club, The Honda Classic, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Nick Price and others, the PBCGA would not have the financial support required to uphold our stellar reputation and access to some of the most exclusive golf courses in the world. I also thank all of our host clubs and their respective golf professionals and staff for sharing their courses and facilities with our players. I encourage all PBCGA members to support our sponsors when given the opportunity and to take the time to personally thank our host clubs for allowing us to compete under tour-quality conditions. Lastly, I thank my fellow board members for dedicating their time towards managing and improving the PBCGA and for placing their trust in me as the association’s Chairman.
As a result of the hard work of fellow board member, Pete Williams, our executive director, Jordan Schneider and several others, we have a tremendous schedule for 2017 that everyone will enjoy. In addition to some of our regular supporters such at Jonathan’s Landing, Abacoa, Bear Lakes, BallenIsles, Hobe Sound, PGA National and several others that have been gracious enough to share their clubs with us over the years, we also welcome the opportunity to compete this year at Frenchman’s Reserve, Quail Valley, and Emerald Dunes. Additionally, we are extremely excited to feature this year’s Palm Beach Kennel Club County Amateur at Sailfish Point, one of the most beautiful ocean front golf courses in the state of Florida that will be in immaculate condition. I encourage everyone to enter our events promptly as I expect many of our tournaments will reach maximum capacity far before entries close.
In addition to running elite golf tournaments, the PBCGA takes great pride in our charitable scholarship programs that have awarded over $350,000 to 135 area college students since 1976. These scholarships have helped students pay for tuition, books and other fees so that they could be more dedicated to their studies. Since 2010, the PBCGA has partnered with Take Stock in Children, Palm Beach County, to provide tuition scholarships so that recipients can attend the Florida state college of their choice. Take Stock in Children is a statewide mentoring and scholarship program that enrolls middle school students facing financial stress and helps them succeed by providing college and vocational scholarships, volunteer mentors, student advocates, early intervention and long-term support. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and members, the PBCGA has donated over $100,000 to the Take Stock in Children program since 2010 and I encourage everyone to visit our website to learn more about our current Scholars and donate to help us support this great cause.
On behalf of the board of directors we thank all our members for their continued participation and support of our elite golf association and encourage anyone to share any constructive comments with our executive director, Jordan Schneider, to ensure that we are satisfying our membership. For those of you that personally know me or any of our fellow board members, please also always feel comfortable communicating with us directly. Congratulations to all of our champions that have already claimed a 2017 PBCGA title and we look forward to continuing another great season of highly competitive amateur golf.
